Introducing BizTechNet.org

business

BizTechNet, short for Business Technology Consumer Network, is another valuable emerging new source of public information concerning the management of technical assets, headed by an outstanding leader in the field, Alan Plastow!

Managing technical assets, which includes software and hardware, has become a confusing, complex field. Since technical assets go beyond computers and software, the term technical asset management (TAM) is more encompassing. With increased awareness it is approached by different companies from the perspectives of different disciplines: Purchasing, Procurement, IT Finance, IT, Legal, Asset Management, Software Asset Management, IT Asset Management.

To pave the way for effective TAM programs that result in cost reduction, increased technical efficiency and litigation protection, all of these disciplines must tune in to the same channel, working from a common knowledge base through education and information. All too often people in the field attend weeklong courses returning to their companies to find that others don’t understand what they are trying to do and why. Barriers are erected, obscuring the value of TAM.

Software Managers Resource, Inc. (SMRI) and BizTechNet are providing information once unavailable to the public to support those in the technical asset management (TAM) field and help people in the various disciplines involved in TAM to develop common knowledge based understandings and perspectives.

Years after working in the field and becoming a Certified Software Manager (CSM), I was privileged to have earned the Certified IT Asset Manager (CITAM) certification under Alan Plastow’s guidance. Alan's BizTechNet.org is another great site to recommend to your bosses for viewing informative articles in the field of TAM. True to his verbal form, Al’s written form can knock the socks off of those not familiar with TAM.

We at SMRI look forward to coordinating with BizTechNet in our efforts to inform the public and support our fellow SAMs, CSAMs and ITAMs.

Thank you Al.

I thank Al for bringing an error to my attention. Smiling The name of the organization is biztechnet.org, not buztechnet.org. Proofing ones own writings is difficult. This is why we welcome corrections to blog entries on this site. Simply e-mail the author.

It's really great having Al back in the ITAM picture. In my humble opinion, his site will become a major resource for IT Asset Managers. I recommend checking it out!
